Founded in 1993 by Richard White — whose initials R.W. are shared by the name RealWise — with a singular purpose: to identify and hold extraordinary businesses at the frontier of their industries. Over three decades, that philosophy has shaped a portfolio built on patience, discernment, and the courage to invest before the crowd.

About

A Private Office
Built for the Long View

RealWise is an Australian private investment company that takes concentrated, high-conviction positions in businesses operating at the frontier of their respective industries.

We seek opportunities where the barriers to entry are formidable, the addressable market is truly global, and the team has the capability to build a durable competitive advantage. These are not trading positions — they are ownership stakes in businesses we intend to hold for the long term.

Our portfolio spans global logistics software, music technology and media, portable display hardware, RegTech and business verification, agricultural biotechnology, and strategic property in Sydney's inner south.

RealWise is privately held and operates exclusively for its principals, guided by a disciplined investment philosophy grounded in patience, deep research, and purposeful capital stewardship.

Mission

"To build and steward a portfolio of exceptional businesses and assets that generate enduring value — for our principals, our communities, and future generations."

Vision

"To be recognised as a model private investment office — known for the quality of our judgement, the depth of our conviction, and the integrity of our stewardship."

Investment Philosophy

"We seek founder-led businesses with high barriers to entry, global addressable markets, and the potential to build unassailable competitive advantages. We invest with patience and hold with purpose."

Investment Thesis

Three Tests Every
Investment Must Pass

High Barrier to Entry

We only invest in businesses that are structurally difficult to replicate. Proprietary technology, network effects, regulatory licences, or unique data assets must create a meaningful moat that compounds over time and deters well-capitalised competitors.

Truly Global, Massive Market

The addressable market must be genuinely global in scope and vast in scale. We look for businesses not constrained by geography — where their product or platform can be deployed across borders without fundamental reinvention.

Sustainable Competitive Advantage

We invest in businesses building advantages that grow stronger with time — where scale, data accumulation, switching costs, or brand loyalty create compounding returns. The best businesses become harder to beat the longer they operate.

Our Approach

Seven Principles That
Shape Every Decision

01
Founder Led

We prefer businesses where founders remain actively involved. Founder-operators bring irreplaceable conviction, cultural capital, and long-term orientation that professional managers rarely match.

02
Technology Based

Technology is the most powerful driver of compounding value creation. Every holding must leverage proprietary technology as a core source of competitive advantage and scalability.

03
Long-Term

We do not trade. We invest with a decade-plus horizon and resist the temptation to react to short-term market volatility. Our returns are measured in years, not quarters.

04
Conviction

We back our best ideas with meaningful capital. Conviction is earned through rigorous research, and it gives us the composure to hold through cycles that test weaker investors.

05
Concentrated

Diversification dilutes. Our concentrated portfolio reflects the quality of our due diligence and our willingness to accept concentration risk in exchange for meaningful upside.

06
Structural Opportunity

Every holding must be positioned at the confluence of durable structural trends — driven by globalisation, digitalisation, regulatory change, or demographic shifts.

07
Stewardship

We treat capital as a trust. Prudent risk management, transparency, and a commitment to ethical conduct define how we operate and how we evaluate the businesses we own.
